Our Mission

The mission of Central Community House is to empower people to reach their full potential, to be self supporting and to live cooperatively with all others.

More about our Organization

Central Community House was created as part of the Settlement House movement that brought holistic services to underserved neighborhoods to address a specific community’s barriers and utilize its unique assets. Central is an 85-year-old community hub where residents give and receive help, quickly and efficiently responding to the most pressing needs of their own area at any given time.

Consistent with the Settlement House model, and as a not-for-profit organization, Central Community House provides comprehensive, onsite support services, including crisis and basic needs assistance; youth, family and senior support/education; art education, health and wellness, and entrepreneurship and workforce services to primarily low income, African-American individuals and families in the Near East and Southside neighborhoods of Columbus.
