Our Mission
Engage with one block at a time to foster resilient and safe communities where residents become connectors, change makers and healers.
More about our Organization
Built on Trauma Informed Community Development framework, One Block at a Time program through Columbus Public Health will engage with one block in Linden to foster a resilient and safe community where residents become connectors, change makers, and healers.
The community of neighbors on Myrtle Avenue, with the assistance of Resilience Organizers, come together to identify problems on their block and using that data will create a HOPE Plan (HOPE stands for Health and wellbeing; Opportunity making; Place making; and Engaging influencers) with specific goals and objectives for the block’s transformation over the coming year. After the plan is created, the Resilience Organizers will then identify and encourage leadership for each of the focus areas and facilitate regular meetings with the block’s leadership team and residents. The Resilience Organizers will act as accountability partners and resource connectors for the community.
The purpose of One Block at a Time is to facilitate community building and leadership development so that all changes are sustainable, long after the One Block at a Time intervention ends. The Resilience Organizers will operate from a trauma-responsive perspective and practice “power with” block residents to build on existing resilience and strengths
